About Chesterfield, IN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Chesterfield, Indiana was first laid out in 1830 by a settler called Amasa Makepeace, who owned a grain mill on Mill Creek. The town was first known as West Union, but took its present name in 1834, and was incorporated as a town in 1858. The town was never a center for industry, even during the natural gas boom days of the late 18th century, but remained primarily agricultural. In 1886 the Indiana Association of Spiritualists founded the church known as Camp Chesterfield. The camp, which was designated as a historic district in 2002, still offers classes and workshops in spiritualism, as well as a monthly Psychic Fair.
Chesterfield has three town parks: Millcreek Park, which features a skate park as well as picnic areas and play equipment, and Makepeace Park and Wallbridge Acres, which both have baseball diamonds. Chesterfield is known for its successful Little League program, and in 1987 they were the USA Little League World Series runners-up. Chesterfield hosts a number of town celebrations each year, including an Independence Day parade and fireworks show, a September car show, a Halloween parade, and a visit from Santa each December. Winters are fairly chilly and long, but summers are mild and pleasant, and springtime is lovely, perfect for picnics and baseball games.
