About Anderson, IN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Anderson, Indiana was first settled in the early 1800s and named for Chief William Anderson, who was half Delaware Indiana and half Swedish. The town was incorporated in 1838 as a town of 350 residents, but experienced a boom in growth when natural gas was discovered there in 1887. Today Anderson has a population of over 56,000, and in 2007 was ranked among Forbes' magazine's 100 best places for businesses in smaller U.S. metro areas.
Forbes is home to Anderson University, the Anderson Center for the Arts and the Paramount Theatre Centre and Ballroom. Mounds State Park, located just east of town, features ten earthworks built by the prehistoric Adena-Hopewell Indians. The largest of these, known as the Great Mound, dates back to 160 B.C. and was thought to have been used as the site of religious ceremonies.
Anderson's climate is typical of the upper Midwest, with winters lasting about 6 months long and bringing several inches of snow each month from December through March. Summer temperatures are moderate, averaging in the mid-80s even during the hottest months of the year. The community's top events are held each May: the Mayors Cup Grand Prix Go-Kart Race, which is held downtown, and the Pay Less Little 500 Race, held at the Anderson Speedway.
